I’ve had some trouble with my blood pressure lately, & was told by my doctor that until it’s fairly stable, & closer to where it should be, I should avoid strenuous activity. That’s all well & good except in the case of an emergency with the fish.
I had several fish laying on the bottom of [...]

Working with your husband

A married couple working together is a tough call. Many couples try it, & from what I’ve heard, Chris & I are the exception to the rule. He knows a couple of different business owners that tried working with their wives, that didn’t work so well. One of them fired his wife 5 times. I [...]

From a customer who said their basement has flooded 5 times since Saturday, because a line is backing up. Then she gives me the bad news: They’ve loaded the lines with Drano, with Liquid Plumber, & the like, & he has another bottle ready to go into the line. All I could say was “please, [...]

I hate computers, part 2

The virus in Chris’ computer had taken over everything in that machine. It was awful. It was opening windows like mad, all by itself. In less than 2 hours, it had opened 28 Internet windows.

Chris & I were at the store the other day, & he wanted something “that would really work” in the shower stall. He’d been seeing the ads on TV about this stuff called “Kaboom” bathroom cleaner, so he got it. (Almost $7.00 for a quart size bottle, some of which Billy Mays got a cut [...]

I’ve always believed that reading a book for entertainment is a good thing to learn. Now it appears I’ve been right all along.
Too much time spent on TV, video games & computers, not enough time reading they think is causing a short fall in associated skills. Well duh!
I’m surprised it’s taken this long to figure it out.
Chris, I [...]

My stove & I aren’t speaking. We’ve seen too much of each other.
Saturday was 10 loaves of pumpkin bread, 2 of apple. Sunday was 3 of the most horrid stuff in the world, & has my kitchen smelling of brandy. Fruitcake. For my ‘fruitcake’ mother. Yesterday was 2 batches of oatmeal raisin cookies, again for mother. To [...]

I was setting up an appointment for the guys to clean the grease interceptor in Longmont (which is huge, is a 2 man job, & Chris will try anything to get out of it) when the girl called back, & said that the Cafe manager remembered it from May, & asked if it could be [...]

Instead of waiting for FEMA to send the money, New Orleans officials chose to repopulate the Audubon Aquarium who’s “stock” was decimated by Katrina, in a way that made sense. They went fishing. In various locations, they’ve replaced a lot of what was lost, for 1/6th the cost of going to vendors.
Instead of being thrilled [...]
