Last Friday, as I was wishing I could just crawl in a hole & pull it in after me, my computer quit. Dead. It wouldn’t work. The operating system wouldn’t work at all.
Chris called a friend of his who really knows his way around computers, & was told we needed to find someone locally, as this didn’t sound like something that could be dealt with over the phone. I got scared then.
As I was panicking, & trying to think of someone that we know, who knows computers, Joe pops up. The kid that he goes snowboarding with is going to school for it. He called Skylar, who came over when he got off work. The funny little lights on the front of the CPU was telling me there was trouble coming, but I didn’t know what they meant. The hard drive went. At just over 4, it gave up the ghost. He checked the disks that came with it when I bought it, & found more trouble. Yeah, XP was loaded at Best Buy, but there is no disk to reinstall the operating system if the drive crashes! Only a “System Restore” disk. To make matters worse, I was looking at buying a new hard drive, plus the operating system to run it. Talk about getting irritated. I was seriously bent out of shape.
So we’re talking about what to do. Spend $300.00 plus for a hard drive & operating system to put into a CPU that was bought in February of 2004, & hope that was all that was wrong with it, or Skylar’s personal choice, check the Dell site. We checked. I have a new Dell CPU, with twice the size hard drive & memory of what I had. For the same amount of money, 2 day shipping included.
Between Norton Ghost & 360, all my documents had been backed up. Nothing was lost there. But all the emails that I had, the websites, MY GAME that I worked so hard to get 90,000,000 points on, are all gone. Now some people, who shall remain nameless, don’t seem to think that losing a game is all that important. But what do they know? What they don’t know is that I can go to the game website, then get the registration key & get it reinstalled on my computer again. And, from the peanut gallery today, it was brought to my attention that this computer was bought with company money, which gives the head peanut some form of say about what goes onto it. I have news for him. I will have it again. I will get to the point & lives level I was at, & he can hide & watch while I do it.
This is actually kind of cool, really. I don’t like having to start all over again, creating stuff I already had, but sometimes, things happen. I may even get used to the new operating system.

She’s back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
