I don’t care what color a person is. They could be purple with yellow polka dots, but if they live in America, they should be required to speak the language.
People come here for a variety of reasons. Better jobs, religious freedom, better life. Whatever. I have only 2 requests. Do it legally, & learn to speak the language. Please don’t think that because you don’t speak English, we should cater to you, by learning your language. Or spend more money printing documents in 5 different languages, so someone won’t feel left out.
If I moved to Mexico, I would be expected (rightly so) to speak Spanish. I wouldn’t have the right to expect them to learn English because I didn’t want to speak Spanish. Or German. Or Arabic. Or French. Or proper English, if I went to England.
The man in the article went so far as to put up a sign, asking customers to order in English. There’s nothing wrong with that. The person ordering wants their order correct, & I’m sure he wants to get it to them the way they ask for it. He can’t do that if they’re jabbering in a foreign language.
I still don’t see why an amendment isn’t made to the Constitution, making English the official language here. And please don’t tell me it might offend an immigrant. Or maybe we’re closer to being the United States of Mexico than I thought.
I knew about this story months ago and I still truly do not understand it. Was anyone expecting this guy to know every language a person entering his store might speak? Is this required of any other business anywhere?
