The 2 who were helping their friend taunt the tiger at the San Francisco Zoo have started the process for filing a civil lawsuit. Said the zoo didn’t do enough to protect them, then defamed them when a statement was made that the tiger may have been teased. The amount they’re going after hasn’t been disclosed as yet.
I’ve been told I’m too cynical, that there are good people out there. Well, yeah, there are. I actually know some.
But when things like this come up, or the woman in Arvada who claims she was bitten (paramedics who responded said she had a scratch on her butt, there were no puncture wounds) by a German Shepherd who she says was on the attack, tries her level best to have the dog named as vicious & put down (which didn’t work), & is still being treated by a chiropracter 9 months afterward, it’s all about how much money they can get.
If people see an easy way to get money, such as a lawsuit, why would they want to work? Especially in a failing economy, when just staying even is tough. Why not take the responsibility for their own actions? Oh wait, that couldn’t happen. That would mean they did something wrong, & having to admit to it. Nope, not an option. Then as they sit & watch TV while bemoaning all the bad things that happen to them, & they see the limitless personal injury attorney commercials promising all sorts of money, how could they help but see a way out?
“But, I’d be willing to bet that a suit will be filed against the zoo, something about not protecting idiots from themselves. If won, that should make the Stella Awards list. I’m sure it’s been thought of by not only the parents of the kids but Geragos as well.” I wrote this entry on 1-18-08. (What took them so long?)
Prophetic? Naw, it’s all about the money!
