He’s at it again

Billy Mays, that is.
This time it’s a piece of garbage that’s been around for a bit, but they’ve brought it, & him, back out. An auger that’s supposed to pull weeds from the yard, the flower beds, gardens, or anywhere. Except for 1 thing. It’s more of a con from sleazy people that employ Mays.
When we saw the ad on TV, we both noticed this thing was “plowing” through loose potting soil. Even established flower beds aren’t that loose. Brand new ones, maybe. And the $120.00 value for $19.99 (plus shipping & handling) is a joke. I saw the drill. I know what will happen. Being married to a plumber, I’ve been tool shopping with them, many times. I know what happens when a person buys a cheap drill. It burns out fast. I’ve listened to their complaints about that often enough to be sure, don’t buy cheap. It’s not worth it.
Even if I had money to throw away, I wouldn’t throw it in the direction Mays is pointing at.
My husband ordered the above auger, etc. He is very disappointed as he did not get all that has been advertised . He feels he has been cheated , everytime he tries call its either cut off or busy or something. He has never been able to get in touch with anyone.
is this a fraud or what?
A different way of thinking about it, prior to purchasing:
If Mays is hyping it, it won’t work, or it’s a ripoff. Don’t waste your money.
I didn’t think I was a sucker but Billy Mays proved me wrong.
He came on the other day with his Awesome Auger. Wife
said she had to have it. Called the order phone number
which turned out to be fully automatic as in don’t try to
ask any questions. Finally hung up in frustration after having
given my credit card number. The thing came yesterday
minus one part shown in the add. Looked at the charges.
Can you believe $48.90 postage and handling for a $19.95
item. Called customer service. They will be (they say)
returning my $19.95 after I send the thing back but NOT
THE $48.90 FOR THE P&H. Called the credit card company
to start a dispute. Don’t know how far I will get to cancel
out this deal but I am at this point willing to spend any
amount to kill this “deal” Incidentally I am about 50 miles
from the shipping point.
Reinie, I seriously hope you win your dispute. Your numbers show how they can “include” all the “freebies” that aren’t worth much anyway.
Consider it a lesson learned. If Mays is hyping it, stay away!
